These Are The 3 Main Causes of Shoulder Pain
  • A/C & S/C Joints - These are two of the major joints that create shoulder motion. There is also a disc at the S/C (Sterno-Clavicular) joint that can begin to fail because of trauma, injury, poor posture, side sleeping and other causes. This reduces normal motion and can become very painful. As a result, some of the shoulder musculature and surrounding soft tissues will contract and are often diagnosed as the problem - instead of being realized as compensations and not the cause. 
  • Spinal Joints -​Because muscles attach across joints throughout your body, they also have an overall affect on spinal movement, it is very common that lower back issues can cause shoulder pain, as well as the reverse, a shoulder problem causing lower back or neck pain. This is explained throughout the book through the Dispersive Factor, Torsion/Countertorsion Principle, Law of Compensatory Mechanisms, Patterns of Injuries and the Law of Impact.
  • Muscles - As a result, muscles go into spasms to try to protect and safeguard the injured or involved area(s). This limits your range of movement making you feel tight and stiff. The common thing then, is for people to stretch, get a massage, do Yoga or Pilates, which are all great. BUT not if it's not the real cause. As a result of treating the symptom and not the real cause, these solutions will often last only a few hours to a few days, until the pain and discomfort begins again.
